Can I buy online?
Not at this stage. Our online store will hopefully go live in 2017. In the meantime, please email your request to email@example.com
How do I measure my head?
Check out our Hat Sizing page for a guide.
My hat is the wrong size, can I exchange it?
If the hat has not been worn and still has its swing tag, yes you can usually exchange it pending availability. However this does not apply for any custom or made-to-order hats i.e. Fur Felt hats.
My hat is looking a bit old and squashed, can I get it re-shaped?
This always depends on how bad the state of the hat is in. If it requires just a minor tweak then this can be done relatively quickly, however if the hat needs to be completely re-blocked this usually means stripping the hat of its trims and/or sweatband and starting again. As you can imagine this is quite a lengthy process and can be quite expensive. Depending on your attachment to the hat and the base material, you may find that it’s not worth it.
We do not reshape or fix any hats which are not made by Hills because we may not have the same shape, material or finishing and cannot guarantee the outcome.
My hat is broken, do you offer repairs?
Again, this depends on the state of the hat. We will assess each case individually and decide whether the hat can be fixed or needs replacing altogether.
How do I re-wax my oilskin hat and what wax do I use?
Re-wax every year or when the hat is looking very dry and worn. Recommended wax is a ‘duck wax’ which is available in leather shoe or saddlery shops. Coat the oilskin with the wax and slowly heat it with a hairdryer to melt/distribute the wax evenly over the whole hat.
Do you make custom one-off hats?
Yes we can. We have a great team here who can work with you on a custom design and/or find a way to make your own idea work! Please bear in mind this process can take some time so don’t leave it to the last minute.
How long will it take to get a hat made?
That depends on the time of year and where our production levels are.
Please enter your details and question in the form below. Hatman and the Hills Hats team will endeavour to email you an answer as soon as possible.
